Jim Matthews was a valued volunteer with the Friends of HMCS Haida and gave generously of his time and knowledge. He had previously served in the Navy, where he worked in Operations as either a Sonar Operator or Radar Plotter. His favorite place aboard was the Operations Room, where he always felt most at home.
Jim stepped back from volunteering due to health reasons, but he remained a part of our community. His passing is felt by all who knew him, and we are grateful for the contributions he made during his time with us.
We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends. He will be remembered with respect and appreciation.
