A burial at sea took place from HMCS HAIDA for Lt (A), Nigel Douglas Fisher, Royal Navy, who died when his Sea Hornet crashed into the sea off Halifax.
HMCS HAIDA sinks German minesweeper M486 off Ile d’Yeu, Bay of Biscay. LS R.H. Betts, and AB G.J. Rowe, both killed in action Aug 6, 1944. A/S Kerwin awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal. (This was the second CGM awarded to the RCN. The first was Max Bernay’s on August 6, 1942).
